The details
Key responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload across the medical negligence field, including birth injuries, surgical negligence, misdiagnosis and delayed treatment
- Speaking to and advising clients on their next steps, supporting them through the process of making a claim
- Drafting witness statements
- Reviewing expert evidence and medical records
- Communicating with impartial, independent medical experts
- Instructing barristers should a claimant’s case proceed to court
- Communicating with Defendants to reach a settlement
- Supporting fellow solicitors with their cases where required
Job requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience practising as a solicitor
- Specific experience in clinical negligence claims is preferable but not essential
- A passionate interest in clinical negligence law
- Relevant qualifications (APIL, The Law Society, AvMA) are preferable
- An empathetic, compassionate tone
- Strong listening and note-taking skills
- A willingness to work as part of a team and engage with clients
